Research Interests
My research interests have concentrated on the systematics and evolution of New Zealand's marine algal flora (seaweeds). I apply molecular techniques to species delimitation and questions of relatedness and evolution. Basically, we ask: what have we got, and how did it get here? I have worked on red, green and brown algae, looking at native and introduced species. Our work is mainly lab based, with occasional forays to wonderful parts of New Zealand for field collections. I work closely with Dr Wendy Nelson, New Zealand's foremost expert on the New Zealand seaweed flora.Recent Publications
