Biodiversity, Biosecurity and Conservation
Our goal is the conservation of New Zealand’s unique biodiversity and ecosystems through the development of world-class research. To this end, research within the BBC focuses upon invasion ecology, conservation biology and the distribution patterns of a wide variety of organisms. Particular focus is given to invasion and conservation within urban and island ecosystems.
The BBC is a highly collaborative research group. We are a part of the Joint Graduate School in Biodiversity and Biosecurity and the Centre for Biodiversity and Biosecurity. Both of these are Landcare Research- University of Auckland collaborations, and include academic staff from the University's Faculty of Science, the Regional Pacific Offices of the IUCN SSC Invasive Species Specialist Group and the Pacific Invasives Initiative, and the Pacific Regional Programme of the Cooperative Islands Initiative.
